OriginEdit

The Minotaur was created when Minos, the king of Crete, an island in the Greek Isles, refused to sacrifice a bull to the sea god Poseidon. Poseidon was angry, so he made Minos's wife fall in love with the bull. They had a son, the Minotaur. Minos commissioned the brilliant Daedalus to create the Labyrinth, an immense maze, to hide his monstrous son from the eyes of the world. Crete was the seat of power for the mighty Minoan Empire which took its name from that of its ruler, Minos. Minos demanded a tribute of seven Athenian youths and seven maidens, drawn by lots, be sent every ninth year as a feast for the Minotaur. This continued until the hero Theseus, who was to become the first king of Athens, arrived as one of the sacrifices.

DeathEdit

Theseus used a ball of twine so that he wouldn't become lost in the Labyrinth. He eventually found the Minotaur, did battle with it and slew it.
